Tip: If you are playing Ori and The Blind Forest on the PC with a keyboard and mouse like I use to, I recommend that you use a controller instead. Trust me, it makes a world of difference (you will die less 🙂 ). Platformers by nature are designed to be played with a controller, so if you don’t have a Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 or PS4 controller already, you should pick one up on Amazon via the links below:

Microsoft Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows
Microsoft Xbox 360 Wired Controller for Windows & Xbox 360 Console

If you go with a PS3 or PS4 controller, keep in mind that you may have to buy an extra mini Usb cable if you decide to go with the DualShock 3, or an extra Micro Usb 2.0 cable if you go with the DualShock 4. You can probably find one lying around though, but Playstation 3/4 controllers bought on Amazon don’t come with any cables. They will also require that you install extra software to get them to work on the PC, you can view a step by step guide from DigitalTrends on how to do this by clicking here. If you decide to go with Sony you can pick up one of the controllers from Amazon via the links below:

DualShock 4 Wireless Controller for PlayStation 4 – Jet Black
PlayStation 3 Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller (Black)

Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough

Restoring the Elements (Water): Catching Gumo and Retrieving The Water Vein

Hello again, welcome to part 5 of my Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough.  Now that you have gotten the Double Jump skill, areas previously inaccessible to you can now be reached.  From the ancestral tree Leru head west.

Tip:  Be sure to pick up the Spirit Light container up above you to the north west of the first ledge after leaving the ancestral tree.

Spirit Light

Use your new Double Jump skill to collect the Spirit Light

Energy Cell

Energy Cell

Keep going west across the the toxic water and make your way back up the crevasse avoiding the wooden spikes, with the use of the skills Wall Jump and Double Jump.  Once at the top head west through the spirit gate, but don’t go to the area with the Map Stone yet.  Now that you have Double Jump when you reach the area with the slamming pillars, kill the frog and Double Jump to the platform it was on.  Make your way north west from there using Double Jump to get over the wooden spikes.  Head west until you reach the end of the path where you will see an Engery Cell on the ledge below your current location, collect it.

Note: You can find all parts of this Walkthrough (including a video walkthrough), on the Geek Game Guides Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough main page. (click here)

Once you have collected the Energy Cell head south and then west back to the Map Stone at the beginning of Gumo’s Hideout.  Install the Map Stone Fragment to reveal the hidden areas around you.  Now that you have installed the Map Stone make use of Double Jump and the suspended wooden platforms to make your way to the ledge in the north western corner.

Restoring the Elements (Water): Pursuing Gumo and Obtaining Double Jump

Hi guys, welcome to Part 4 of my Ori and the Blind Forest Walkthrough.  We’ve finally made it to the Ginso Tree, only to have the Water Vein (its key) stolen by a weird looking creature from the Forlorn Ruins known as a Gumon.  In this part of the walkthrough, we pursue the Gumon that stole the Water Vein and pick up the Double Jump skill along the way.  From the Ginso Tree head east after Gumon.

Energy Shard

Collect to replenish energy cells

Tip: Before jumping down into the valley you might want to collect the large energy shard to replenish your energy cells from the ledge over to the east.  A Charge Flameable blue glow stone is here as well, you could never collect enough Spirit Light! 🙂

When at the bottom of the valley kill the the purple flame spitting plants and make your way west until you catch up with the Gumon again.  In order to unlock the door Gumon escaped through you are going to have to make use of the purple-flame spitting plants to destroy the four destructible objects that have plants beneath them.  Once done, the plant hidden beneath the object closest to the door can be used to blow it open with its purple flame.

Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough

Restoring the Elements (Water): Finding The Ginso Tree and Obtaining Charge Flame

Welcome to part 3 of my Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough. Now that we know what our main goal in the game thanks to Sein and the Spirit Tree, our first step in archiving that goal is to find the Ginso Tree in Thornfelt Swamp.  Our objectives in this part of the walkthrough is to do just that and obtain the skill Charge Flame along the way.  Heading east from the Spirit Well at the Spirit Tree head into Hollow Grove.  To get over the tall tree we are going to have to flip a switch to lower one of the suspended wooden platforms.  The switch is located on the level below us to the east,  make use of the jumping toad to break through the unstable ground to get to the lower level.  From there jump down to the south east and then head east, you will come upon the ancestral tree Ano, absorb Ano to obtain the skill Charge Flame.

Note: You can find all parts of this Walkthrough (including a video walkthrough), on the Geek Game Guides Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough main page. (click here)

Tip: Charge flame can be used to destroy the glowing blue pillars, and stones.  You can make use of its AOE in a lot of ways, i.e to insta-kill mobs crawling  on walls and ceilings while you’re wall jumping and to kill mobs from behind cover.

Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough

Obtaining Wall Jump and Finding the Spirit Tree

In this part of my Ori and the Blind Forest walkthrough we get the skill Wall Jump and locate the Spirit Tree. After finding Sein, head east back through the caves, and back to the area were you entered Sunken Glades and obtained the first Spirit Light Container.  However, before you can get there you will need to Spirit Flame the purple thorns to reveal a trampoline plant and to access a previously blocked off area.  Before you use the plant to leap back up, head east towards the area previously blocked off by purple thorns. Here you will find a Spirit Well, use it to recover your life, energy and save your game all at once.

Note: You can find all parts of this Walkthrough (including a video walkthrough), on the Geek Game Guides Ori and The Blind Forest Walkthrough main page. (click here)

Note: The Ability Cell on the ledge in the north east corner can only be obtained later in the game after you’ve obtained skills like charged leap and wall climb.
